Acer announces Android Smartphone Liquid

Acer has today announced their Liquid e phone, a smartphone running Android 2.1 codenamed Eclair and powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm.

The Acer Liquid e Android phone has a 3.5 inch HD screen that is capacitive touch allowing good quality images and video to be displayed. Liquid e will come with wireless 802.11b/g being supported along with Bluetooth 2.0 and HSDPA, HSUPA and GSM/EDGE.

RAM and ROM on the device is set at 512MB and 256MB respectively. Apparently the Liquid e phone equipped with 5 MP camera does not come with flash support.

Other features on the Liquid e include GPS, a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and an accelerometer. There are four hardware buttons on the front of the device for Send, End, Back and Home which is quite common on Google Android based phones.

The Android 2.1 OS on the Liquid e has all the usual features such as Live Wallpapers, Multiple home screens and quick contacts. The new OS also supports the new HTML5 standard.

No release dates are known just yet. Pricing is also not known.
