This could be Christmas bells for everyone waiting to get their hands dirty with 3D enabled smartphone. Amazon UK has added the LG Optimus 3D mobile to its site with an “in stock” date of 20th June. LG Optimus 3D is the world’s first glasses-free 3D smartphone, and is a high-end device that LG states “doubles the graphics performance of its nearest competitor.” Amazon is listing the handset with a release date of only one week’s time – although the price tag of £599.99 SIM-free could scare some users.

LG Optimus 3D deals will also be offered on contract soon, through the major networks including Orange, Three and T-Mobile. When the smartphone was offered on pre-order at the end of last month, the phone was available for free on contracts starting from a little over £25 a month, so there should be plenty of choice once the Optimus 3D lands in the UK.

In addition to the phone’s 4.3 inch WVGA display, you can enjoy 3D content in many other ways too – record your own on the inbuilt dual 5-megapixel camera, playback videos, share 3D content on the YouTube 3D app or view the images on a compatible 3D TV via the Optimus 3D’s HDMI connection.

Powered by a 1GHz Arm Cortex A9 processor, the LG Optimus 3D is fast and capable. The device runs on the Android 2.2 OS and features a front-facing VGA camera and 512MB of RAM alongside all the Google apps and features.

The LG Optimus 3D will compete with the HTC Evo 3D, which comes to Vodafone next month. The Evo 3D is a glasses-free 3D smartphone with a 4.3 inch display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.
