Apple iPad replacement for $99

Apple iPad

With all of the hype surrounding the Apple iPad in the past couple of days, we missed an interesting part. Apple will replace iPad with new one for $99 if battery dies. According to the FAQs if your iPad dies “due to the battery’s diminished ability to hold an electrical charge,” Apple will replace it for you. There is a cost of $99 plus shipping, which all comes out to $105.95 per unit.

If you smash your iPad, you’re not covered. Common sense, but they have to mention it:

Note: Your iPad is not eligible for Battery Replacement Service if the product has been damaged, for example, as result of an accident, liquid contact, disassembly, unauthorized service or unauthorized modifications, or if the product is not operating correctly as a result of a component failure. Please review Apple’s Repair Terms and Conditions for further details.

Apple will also not transfer your data, but if you sync it to your computer, you already have your data.

This is a great policy considering how much criticism Apple has taken over the years because iPod batteries die and can’t be replaced by the customer.
